The second workout of the 2022 Open is a couplet that is going to test work capacity and everything about mid-line. Choose the variation below that has a loading and burpee variation you can complete 10 reps of unbroken when fresh. Refer to this page to see specific standards for the deadlift loads, what counts as a solid rep for both exercises, and the foot take off rule for the burpees as well as other division variations. Be sure to know the rules for video submissions as well.

This workout is an ascending and descending ladder so two different strategies will be helpful. The ascending reps early on are tricky because they will set the body at a pace way too fast for the larger sets. Focus on moving well and having effective transitions early on over doing the reps quickly. The efficiency will prevail, even if you meet the 10-minute time cap at the end. Athletes who make it into the descending portion of the workout have one option: Go faster. Have fun, use the best version for your needs, and get away from that keyboard!

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time, or as many as possible in 10-minutes, of:
Deadlifts
Bar-facing burpees, two foot take-off and two foot landing are not required. Both feet must not hit the bar and must be air-born together while jumping the barbell. 

W: 155lb
M: 225lb

Scaled

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of:
Deadlifts
Bar-facing burpees, athletes may step over the bar.

W: 95lb
M: 135lb

​Time Cap: 10-minutes

Foundations

1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of:
Deadlifts
Burpees, or burpees to an elevated surface.

W: 55lb
M: 75lb

Time Cap: 10-minutes

Athletes at home can use two water jugs or a loaded backpack for deadlifts, note this is not a valid form of completion for the Open.
